It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Winterfest

Every year, Suncadia welcomes the holiday season with a festival that celebrates wintery traditions for the whole family. The 7-week event kicked off on November 22 with, among other things, a post-Thanksgiving Elk Run, a tree lighting celebration at Dawson Park, and special visit from the North Pole

December started with a bang at the Winter Market, featuring edible, wearable and enjoyable gifts handcrafted by some of the best artisans and vendors in Washington. Haven’t found the perfect gift yet? There’s still time to shop the Winter Market located in the Sentinel Room at the Lodge on December 22.

There’s plenty of hands-on activities to keep little ones entertained at Winterfest during the rest of this month. At the Bear Factory (pre-register here) kids can choose from a variety of outfits and accessories to stuff and fluff their own signature stuffed animal. On December 22 and 23, families can create a handcrafted ornament just in time to hang on their holiday tree. And budding architects can design their own house—out of gingerbread, of course—with a variety of candies and accessories. We provide the pre-formed gingerbread house set on a platform, you and your family bring the imagination and designer’s touch. Pre-register here.

Have you heard of Campcadia? The full-day, evening and 3-hour sessions in this kid-friendly program offers crafts, activities and field trips around the property in the company of talented and experienced camp counselors. Want to celebrate New Year’s Eve grown-up style? Drop off your little elves with us for a good old-fashioned Pajama Party.

Get into the winter wonderland spirit with some outdoorsy fun. Starting on December 26, there will be ice skating under the crisp winter sun or the evening stars followed by hot chocolate and s’mores by the fire pit. Want more? Contact the Concierge to sign up for Snowball Bingo, rope tow inner tubing, Tie-Dye and Snow Art, and ice skating sessions. Don’t forget that all outdoor recreation is weather dependent.

See you at Winterfest!
